How to get an eBook, eAudiobook or eMagazine

What you will need …

      • Library card and PIN (obtain from Library – PIN is usually the last four digits of your Library card number)
      • Libby APP (Not available for reciprocal borrowers)
      • CloudLibrary APP (available for everyone)
      • PressReader APP
      • Era Books and LOTE4Kids APP
      • eReader, Tablet or smart device

Kobo Integration

You can now link your library card to your Kobo account through the Account menu and, for eligible titles, use the new ‘Send to Kobo’ feature to deliver eBooks directly to your supported Kobo devices, including the Kobo Libra Colour, Clara Colour, and Clare BW.

How to Access Digital Books & Magazines

For Tablets and Smart Devices

  • Download these free apps from your device’s App Store:
    Libby, CloudLibrary, PressReader, LibraryPass

  • Log in using Facebook or your Library card number and PIN (your PIN is usually the last four digits of your card).

  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Search for “Severn” or “Simcoe Digital Collection” to get started.

For All Other Devices

  • Some devices may require an Adobe ID for authorization.

  • Others let you log in with Facebook or your Library card and PIN.

  • Follow the specific app instructions for setup.

Loan Periods & Limits

 CloudLibrary:

  • 5 checkouts

  • 7 reserves

  • Unlimited wish list

  • 21-day loan period

  • Collection shared with 13 county libraries (smaller selection, but shorter reserve lists)

Ontario Download (Libby):

  • 10 checkouts

  • 10 reserves

  • Unlimited wish list

  • 14-day loan period

  • Collection shared with many Ontario libraries (larger selection, but longer reserve lists)

  • Excludes reciprocal borrowing memberships

💡 Tip: If an item isn’t available in Libby, always check CloudLibrary—waitlists may be shorter!

How to Use Your Digital Library

  1. Add eBooks and eAudiobooks to your digital bookshelf.

  2. Finished browsing?

    • Go to Account

    • Click Add to App (for tablets/smartphones)

    • Or Download to Adobe Digital Editions (for computers/eReaders)

  3. For eReaders:

    • Plug your device into your computer

    • When recognized by Adobe Digital Editions, drag and drop the title onto your device

Returning & Renewing Titles

Returning Early:

  • On tablets/smartphones: Tap the book cover in your bookshelf, then tap ‘Return.’

  • On eReaders: Delete the title from your device. In Adobe Digital Editions, right-click the book cover and select ‘Return Borrowed Item.’

Renewing Items:

  • You’ll be prompted 3 days before expiry.

  • If there’s no one waiting, you can renew your item.

  • If there is a waitlist, you can still request to renew. The system will:

    • Return the item at expiry

    • Place you on the reserve list

    • Email you when the item is available again
